Hi Ehsaan!
I just bought the Taare Zameen Par OST and loved the song Kholo Kholo...I have my own band, Syncytium, and Im the lead singer and I also play rhythm guitar...we have an event coming up in our college and I know Kholo would be the perfect song....I tabbed out the chords (to the best of my abilities) and just wanted to run it by you and ask if they were in fact accurate...it would be greatly appreciated! I wanted to post this in the "Agar Main Kahoon" forum but i didnt have special rights to do so...thanks a bunch in advance...here it goes..
_____________________________________________________________
The main riff in the verses is to play Em twice and then finger picking the following
RIFF = Em (2x) + finger picking (below)

D-------0-----------------2----------------------------

the main riff during the verse is
Em -- A with a fleeting G in between.. thats one guitar
the other guitar plays lower bass notes as power chords.. and there is also a G-G#-A on that track i think...
the wierd chords come in during the Bridge.. but they r not that wierd after all.. just a combination of open ringing notes and Bass guitar moving up the notes from F# to G and then B
there r three chords here
ones a Bsus4
224400
a wierd F# (F#7 add11?? ) -- F#*
244300 or x44300
B with open E (B add11) -- B*
x24440 or xx4440
Tu dhoop hain jham se bikhar
Bsus4 -----------------Bsus4
Tu hai nadee o bekhabar
Em----------G---------A
Beh chal kahin ud chal kahin
Bsus4-----------------Bsus4
Dil khush jahan
Em
teri toh manzil hai wahin
G--------------------------F#*-----------------B*
Kyun is kadar hairaan tu
G-------------------------Asus2
Mausam ka hai mehmaan tu
G-------------------------Asus2----Em
here's me playing it.. i play it in a simplified way for sure..

Ehsaan ji, still eagerly awaiting the official version!

Hi, very nicely played, jayswami I tried playing that too, but can't play the strumming pattern very well still... not surprising as I've started learning since two months What's the guitar you play, BTW... Ibanez? Sorry I'm new to this area so I don't know much about guitar models right now, I'm still playing a FENDAR (country made guitar, not Fender) saving money to buy an Ibanez or something later _________________ Kabhi kabhi kuch jeetne ke liye kuch haar na parta hai, aur haar ke jeetne wale ko Baazigar kehte hain!

Hey Jay!
Awesome work dude! I just saw your vid on YouTube...great stuff...come to think of it, my chords were quite off...lol...but no worries....terrific work!
You seem to be very musically gifted...I just had a quick question...Im an amateur guitarist and I really wanted to develop a musician's ear...so that I can easily listen to a song and say..."alright..its in the key of ______and the chords are _______"...Ive learnt music theory for about 3 years...and I bought this program called EarMaster 5...which apparently trains you to develop a musician's ear...any suggestions?? |

Hi Ehsaan & Jay!
After miserably failing at tabbing out Kholo Kholo I gave my ear another go and tried my best to jot down the basic chord progression in the verses of MERA JAHAN from the Taare Zameen Par album....I believe the basic progression is as follows:
G#m, D#m, F#M, C#M....and its almost the same in the chorus (Oh ho ho ho... part) but sometimes I think the G#m is replaced with a G#M...
Id greatly appreciate it if you could critique my findings...thanks a bunch...

thanks. i am playing a Martin DC16GTE. It is a very nice guitar actually. When I was like you and just beginning, I was lucky enough to have an excellent custom acoustic guitar which my dad got made from this sardar jee who used to make instruments for the army band.. now when i think of it.. it was an awesome instrument.. I was in 6th grade then. And Loy was my muisc teacher in school. I probably learnt for 3 weeks.. then shifted to keyboards .. for I thought guitaring wasnt my thing.. and this other kid suddenly started bringing this cool looking casio to the music classes
So I hardly used to play my guitar!! and focused only on playing the keyboards those days.. which kinda has been the pattern till today unfortunately. I just strumm chords and play rhythm and use the guitar mainly as a song writing tool.. never bother to practice scales and leads..

dont worry too much about it.. and keep trying. your ears will get only better with time. plus it is not just about ears, its also identifying patterns and chords which have seen or heard being played on the guitar before .. that will come with experience. listening to guitar artistes like john mayer, eric clapton, SRV etc helps. ... my 2 cents. |

I actually thought about that seeing the immense collection of keyboards visible behind you in the video _________________ Kabhi kabhi kuch jeetne ke liye kuch haar na parta hai, aur haar ke jeetne wale ko Baazigar kehte hain! |
