Personally my fav albums are "Vande Mataram" (mostly hindi/urdu and one tamil) and "legend of bhagat singh" (hindi/urdu).

"legend" also has my all time sonu favorite "sarfaroshi ki tamanna"

Boys was super too. I'm happy it wasn't translated into Hindi - those sound terrible. I don't understand tamil, but prefer rahman in tamil if both tamil and hindi versions exist.

True .... I don't understand tamil ...ARR has given some awesome music in tamil films which you can listen for hours .....what makes both ARR and SEL the hottest and favourite music directors are their ability to be innovative, and use latest technologies n novel instruments in making great music.

wow! this is fantastic! Go arr, go!

Do the music rights in India ever expire? The Beatles are entering into public domain in the EU/UK soon, right?

interesting read. but you know i for one do not like most of A R Rahman's sounds, except on a few movies. his sounds are too plasticy for my tastes, and his drum snare is almost always too thin and poppy even for some heavier songs. I mean I totally understand the cheezy feel some of his old movies have.. like the sounds in Roja, and thats because those were relatively low budget when it came to arrangement and were done mostly the synths of that time .. i think the korg trinity was korgs flagship keyboard then... i like the arrangements in his movies like Lagaan and Swades much better, but overall he remains too boy bandish for my tastes when it comes to sound design.

i agree, A.R. Rahman waz pretty good til Swades, after that he makes horrible music: Mangal Pandey, Rang De Basanti, i just never understood those soundtracks.

i liked his swades, lagaan, and taal especially
